BAKTRIA, Indo-Greek Kingdom. Philoxenos, circa 125-110 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 9.92 g, 12 h), Indian standard, uncertain mint in Paropamisadai or Gandhara. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ANIKHTOΥ / ΦIΛOΞENOY Diademed and draped bust of Philoxenos to right. Rev. 'Maharajasa apadihatasa Philasinasa' ('of the Great King Philoxenos the Unconquered' in Karoshti) Philoxenos on horseback to right; to lower right, Σ and monogram. Bopearachchi 3H. HGC 12, 267. Sharply struck on fresh metal, an excellent piece with a splendid portrait. Die breaks on the reverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
